Team leader - Amy

Hi, my name is Amy, I have daughter named Olivia!
After starting as a Nursery Nurse at Bright Beginnings 8 years ago I have now become the Team Leader for Piglets.

I have my Cache level 3 diploma in Childcare along training in first aid, safeguarding, food hygiene and ECAT (Every Child A Talker).

During my time here I have worked on developing the two year olds’ learning environment. In support of this I have attended a variety of training courses including ‘I’m two having fun on the floor’ delivered by Mary Barlow at the Totem Pole. These courses served to inspire me to make some exciting changes like expanding our small world area introducing open-ended resources to encourage creativity and exploration and adding a cozy side to our book corner. All of which has gone down very well with the children.

The Room

Our Piglets room is located downstairs and split into two areas.

The carpet area:
Here we have our quiet areas and space for the children to let their imaginations run wild, such as home corner, small world, construction and book corner.

The hard surface area:
This is where all the creative and messy play happens, including sand and water pits, painting, mark making and exploratory play.

Parents are also asked to contribute to these:

We also like to hear about your child's experiences outside of nursery. This provides us with a greater understanding of each child and provides a valuable opportunity to promote their language development. Each key group has its own display board in nursery and they display examples of the children's art work and photographs of their achievements and activities. We invite parents to bring items from home to display here as well, e.g. photos of events, days out, holidays, or anything else important to your child.
