Poohs + Rabbitz

Team Leader Nicky

Hi, my name is Nicky, I have little boy named Oliver and I’m the team leader for Poohs and Rabbits!
I have worked at bright beginnings day nursery since 2009. I take great pride in what I do and am very passionate about working with children, and I feel very privileged to be able to see children grow and develop within our care.

I have a level 3 qualification in childcare which I achieved in 2004. After receiving this qualification, I went to work abroad working as a children’s rep - I worked in the beautiful Greek islands, and also was fortunate enough to have had an amazing experience working at the world famous Lapland.

On top off my regular training courses such as safe guarding, first aid etc., I’m also the special educational needs coordinator. This entails supporting children within the nursery that may require a little bit of extra help with their development. I also work closely with outside agencies such as pre-school inclusion, physiotherapy and Speech and language to ensure that all children can be included in all aspects of the daily routines throughout the day.

The Room

Throughout the day, the children are able, and actively encouraged to experience an array of activities such as gloop, painting, creative play, musical play, sensory and many more – including having access to a younger children’s outdoor area which includes a play house which the older babies can crawl or walk into, A grass area or the younger babies to sit or lay on and experience the array of smells and sounds around them. We have herbs planted around the garden and a wide range of natural resources such a wind chimes that the children made, twigs, leaves, pine cones and much more to help the children begin understand the world around them.

Parents are also asked to contribute to these:

We also like to hear about your child's experiences outside of nursery. This provides us with a greater understanding of each child and provides a valuable opportunity to promote their language development. Each key group has its own display board in nursery and they display examples of the children's art work and photographs of their achievements and activities. We invite parents to bring items from home to display here as well, e.g. photos of events, days out, holidays, or anything else important to your child.
