Pooh Bears

Our Pooh Bears

Team Leader Nicky

Hi my name is Nicky, I have little boy named Oliver and I’m the team leader in our baby room “Pooh Bears”.
I have worked at bright beginnings day nursery since 2009. I take great pride in what I do and am very passionate about working with children, I feel very privileged to be able to see children grow and develop within our care.

I have a level 3 qualification in childcare which I achieved in 2004. After receiving this qualification, I went to work abroad working as a children’s rep – I worked in the beautiful Greek islands, and also was fortunate enough to have had an amazing experience working at the world famous Lapland.

I have attended many training events since qualifying to ensure that my skills are up to date and relevant. I also have the experience of being a special educational needs coordinator. This entails supporting children within the nursery that may require a little bit of extra help with their development and have worked closely with outside agencies such as pre-school inclusion, physiotherapy and speech and language therapists, to ensure that all children can be included in all aspects of the daily routines throughout the day.

The Room

Babies will settle through our supportive key person systems.  Underpinning their personal development, the important attachments that they build will shape their social world.  Our babies are supported through strong, warm, loving, and encouraging relationships with adults to enable them to learn how to understand their own feelings and those of others.  We aim to keep you updated every step of the way!

Language comprehension starts from birth and the number and quality of conversations that key persons have with babies throughout the day is crucial to a language-rich environment.  babies will initially be supported through their understanding and using then onto using ‘nouns’ within their ever-growing vocabularies.

Babies are supported within our environment to become healthy investigators as they learn to play and explore with natural resources based around our Wanderlust planning; were we follow the seasons gently throughout the year. We hold a parents evening twice annually!

Within the baby room we give them experiences identified through their personalised next steps and involving their preferred interests. Baby room practitioners are supportive and nurturing as they prepare the babies for their transition to the toddler room.  The graduation from the baby room begins!
