Our Piglets
Team Leader Amy
Hello, my name is Amy, I have worked at Bright Beginnings Day Nursery for 15 years, and I have been the Team Leader in Piglets for 13 years. I am a mum of two, and I understand the importance of feeling confident and secure in who is caring for your child.
I have a Cache Level 3 Diploma in childcare and take part in regular online courses and training events to ensure my skills are up to date and relevant to build on my own continuous professional development.
Aswell as being Team Leader I am also our Facebook pioneer, and part of this role is to keep parents and carers updated with nursery events, insights in to planning, our curriculum, what the children will be learning about and recapping this learning at the end of each half term. I am also the pioneer of planning, and ensure all rooms are equipped with their own planning at the beginning of each week.
Having worked at Bright Beginnings Day Nursery for 15 years I have seen many changes, the biggest change having been, adapting our environment and taking on a Hygge approach to learning, this is something that’s been happening over the last 2 years, and it is something I really enjoy, it’s made our environment more homely and cosy, and I love embracing our Hygge principles daily with the children.
The Room
Adults will highlight language, commentate, and use everyday opportunities to communicate using language extending to other areas of learning. Wanderlust opportunities provides key influence and direct language enrichment to inspire children. Children become more inquisitive as their abilities develop and their understanding grows. Children will continue to build upon their understanding of changes over time through the seasonal stimulus, using vocabulary and actions that demonstrate their understanding within previous lessons.
Boogie Mites opportunities for children start to evolve into the school readiness programme, developing language, respect towards boundaries and all other areas of learning. Boogie Mites also meets the 7 aspects of Letters and Sounds Phase 1 which provides rich pre-reading skills in readiness for school transition. Adults continue to read books to children (stories and non-fiction) they read with them, and enjoy rhymes, poems, and songs together using the Boogie Mites Programmes and other materials!
Independence is encouraged in areas such as mealtime expectations and support is given to role model how to social engage with others during small and large group situations. Within this room children can access more playground equipment as we develop their muscle structure with gross movements in readiness for writing. Once they leave the Piglets room, they are on their way to graduating from Bright Beginnings Day Nursery and Preschool!
