Our Kangas

Team Leader Rachel

Hi, I’m Rachel, I have worked at bright beginnings since 2014. I have worked up from practitioner in Tiggers to Room Leader in Kangas. I have a passion for teaching children and wanted to work with under-fives from a young age. I enjoy watching them grow and achieve their potential. I am always amazed by their development and enjoy celebrating their achievements with them.

I have 3 children of my own, one of which who has just left Bright Beginnings to go to school, so I understand the importance of feeling confident and reassured by who is caring for your child and understand the work life and childcare balance.

I am a big believer of children thriving in the natural environment and try to encourage the children to get outside and explore the outside world in all-weather as helps improve wellbeing and resilience, increased health through physical activity, provides children with the opportunity to develop a life-long appreciation of the natural world and has a positive impact on educational attainment.

The Room

As children’s comfort, sense of belonging and confidence develops within the setting, staff will observe children to identify where is appropriate to interrupt, manage, facilitate learning or to directly teach the children within their interests.  Staff will tactfully deploy themselves into children’s play to further extend and teach them within their current lines of interest to develop their learning. We ensure that all children are progressing within their development!

Within this busy room, setting appropriate boundaries and encouraging children to understand what the expectations are within the nursery is paramount, especially within our 2-year-old room. Often children within our locality are unable to adhere to simple boundaries and ‘understanding’ is often an identified area that needs nurturing.

Children develop their abilities to socially communicate with others through supportive adults delivering Communication Friendly Strategies (Elklan) and Boogie Mites opportunities to develop our sense of togetherness, rhythm and shaking their bodies to keep fit!
